June Graduates

June has just flown by. Today is July 4th, and we are planning to spend it with friends, but I thought I would get caught up on June blogging this morning.

We had two graduates this year at Bluebonnet Elementary. Charles graduated Kindergarten and Joshua graduated 5th grade. On the morning of his graduation, Charles ate breakfast with his tie over his shoulder just like the businessmen do at lunchtime. Then it was off to school and time for the ceremony.

Each kid got to walk across the stage to get their "diploma". Notice the crossed fingers...hmm..maybe he wasn't quite sure he would get that diploma.

Phew!! He made it. Big hugs from his teacher Mrs. Handel!

Then they all sang a few songs about growing up and moving onto 1st grade. So cute!

Mom and Dad are so proud of Charles! He had a really great year and has grown so much academically. Onto 1st grade!

The following week, the 5th graders celebrated graduation with an awards ceremony.

Joshua got an award for almost everything there was possible and was even chosen by his teacher to receive the prestigious "Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence" The certificate even has Obama's signature on it!!

After his ceremony we came home and he opened a present from mom and dad. Some new shades!!

The 5th graders have a special party/cook-out on the last day of school. Then they parade through the halls to "Pomp and Circumstance" while the rest of the students line the halls cheering. Then they head out to the front lawn for one last time singing the Bluebonnet song together!!

And a final hug to Mrs. Vaughn and Mrs. Lampe his classroom teacher and his LEAP teacher.

Off to Middle School!!!
