Thirty-nine

We celebrated Steve's last birthday in the 30s with lasagna, cake and a day off from school. The kids were home all day due to the drizzle, cold weather and threat of ice. Only in Texas do they close the schools because it MIGHT get icy out. The ice never materialized, but it was fun spending the day with Steve on his birthday anyway. Even if he was working and on conference calls the whole time.

Basketball Part 2-Joshua

I finally made it to one of Joshua's games WITH my camera. I really love action/candid photography, but basketball poses some serious issues. The lighting is generally poor and the action is fast. Even with my "fancy" lens it is tough to get that perfect shot that is also lit up and in focus. Here are a few good ones from the game last weekend.





This is a pregame shot. Joshua is on a very tall team...he is no shrimp but looks like one next to these guys.

Here are a couple of shots of Joshua handling the ball. His handling has come a long way. Now if we can just pull out some aggression! He is such a thinker, that the actual game of basketball is tough for him. Steve is trying to get him to use instinct. He has come a long way though...he even surprised us all this game with a behind the back move! Joshua later told me "you know how they say 'think twice' before doing things? Well in basketball, you are supposed to not think at all." That is tough for our little cerebral one.


The kid in red was on Joshua's Lacrosse team. He is little, but pretty much stole the show for his team. He is quite an athlete!

So I can remember... when he grows up

Charles: Mommy, do I have school today?
Me: no, not today.
Charles: Yea! We can go to Costco!!
Me: Why do you want to go to Costco?
Charles: so we can go eat SAMPLES.

Winter basketball

The older boys are playing basketball again this year with the Y. Here are a few shots of Thomas at his game today. He is with the same team as last year. It is actually a 2nd grade team, and he is really improving. He has gotten really aggresive out on the court. He was a rebounding fool today.
